Author Interview with Rae Rivers

I am delighted to welcome the lovely Rae Rivers back to my blog following the release of the second book in her The Keepers Series with The Keepers: Declan.

1. Hi Rae, welcome back to my blog! Excited to have you here again. Please could you give a short synopsis for The Keepers series so far.

Thanks so much for having me again, Laura!  Book 2 (excluding the prequel) of the Keepers series was released recently.  The series revolves around three warrior brothers who are Keepers and their duty is to protect a powerful witch, Sienna.  They are her friends, allies and fierce protectors and together, they are destined to protect the balance of nature.  It’s a Paranormal Romance filled with magic, mayhem, action, suspense, a lot of awesome characters and of course, hot romance!  As the series evolves, we’re introduced to more heroines and different characters and settings.  Lots of fun!

2. For those who have not yet read The Keepers, could you tell us how you came up with the idea for the series.

Initially, the focus was more on Sienna, my witch.  She came to mind first.  Once I realised how strong and powerful she was, I figured she’d need help and protection – and so the idea of a Keeper was born.  In this case, her Keeper, Archer, came with two equally gorgeous brothers, Declan and Ethan and they each had their own story.  The series simply developed from there and the focus shifted more to the Keepers.  Each book contains a beautiful love story but overall, there’s a very special love story between the three brothers too.

3. I liked Declan but out of the three Keepers, who is your favourite?

I adore them all.  I found Declan’s character the easiest to write as I had developed him in my mind from the beginning.  Archer, and especially Ethan, needed more thought.  The more I’ve spent in each character’s point of view, first Archer, then Declan and now Ethan, it’s become harder and harder to choose a favourite.

4. I love how both women that we have been introduced to so far in the series- Sienna and Kate are strong and can look after themselves, what was your thinking behind creating strong female characters?

I love strong heroines but also like a feminine side to them too.  So far, Kate and Sienna are both powerful in different ways and in danger because of it.  I wanted to develop them as strong women with their own minds, able to take care of themselves but balance that out with a vulnerability and tenderness too.  Hopefully, I got the balance right!

5. When can we expect The Keepers: Ethan to be released? Can’t wait, can’t wait!!!

Haha, that’s awesome, thank you! I’m so thrilled you’ve enjoyed the series so far!  I’ve already started writing Ethan and although we don’t have a release date yet, we’re hoping for later this year.
