Showcase Sunday #25

Showcase Sunday is hosted by Vickie at Books Biscuits and Tea. The aim of this event is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone, hope you've all had a brilliant week. This week has been a good one for me, although my Nanny had to go in hospital for an operation on Friday and it made me feel sad as she just looked so frail. I'm going to go see her again today. She will hopefully be out on Monday. I think I'm going to buy her a book :)

My book haul this week is smaller, just three books, but that gives me a chance to catch up and I'm taking part in the BOUT OF BOOKS READ-A-THON next week and am planning to read four books. Do let me know if you are also taking part :).

The Girl in 6E by A.R.Torre (Won)
Every Woman for Herself by Trisha Ashley (Purchased)

I was really lucky to have won The Girl in 6E, it sounds very dark and scary, so I think I will save my reading time for that one during the day! Trisha Ashley is one of my favourite authors, so I snapped up her book in Smiths when I saw it was half price. It's a reissue, but I just love the cover designs that Avon have given her books. And finally The Extra Ordinary Life of Frank Derreck, Age 81. Quite a lot of fiction is cropping up lately focused on older people and I am really enjoying these types of books. I have read The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, The One Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared and just recently The Little Old Lady Who Broke all the Rules, and I have loved them all, so I have high hopes for this one.

So those are my books this week, please do let me know yours and if you're a blogspot user, let me know and I will follow your blog :)

Have a great Sunday everyone.

  1. Ohhh The Extra Ordinary Life of Frank Derrick, Age 81 is a new one to me and I love the sound of it! Quirky novels with interested long titles FTW :)

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother, I hope she gets better and stronger soon and I love your idea of giving her a book. Perhaps you already own a book you've read and really loved and which you'd like to pass onto her? Nothing quite like a good read that comes recommended.
