Blog Tour: Shattermoon by Dominic Dulley
Loving all these stories set in space at the minute and Shattermoon is another book feeding my current space obsession.
Although initially it took me a little while to get used to the world building and the names of places and people, once I got over this I was hooked by this space adventure!
Shattermoon has a proper kick ass female protagonist named Orry. Orry has the best of intentions at heart but she can never quite seem to stick to rules and this was one of things that I loved about her. She's also very clever and intuitive and it is very easy to root for her the whole way through. I know that if I was with her we could get out of any sticky situation. Working with her family Orry has never exactly been on the right side of the law, but never so much for her to get caught, that is until a very mysterious pendant comes into her possession. From there Orry's fairly comfortable world goes spinning out of control and it becomes up to her to make sure the pendant doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
I will say that I wouldn't recommend getting too attached to any of the characters as the author is not afraid to kill them off! However this does actually make the story more plausible as in this sci-fi adventure no one is safe. There was however a space ship that I got very attached to, which was definitely unexpected!
I do love a fast paced book as much as the next person, but at times I felt like I had missed something as the action never lets up. However this was just a small thing, so there is no doubt there is more than enough to keep you on your toes.
Shattermoon actually got better and better the more I read it. I started to understand the world more and the sense of danger and adventure really began to heighten. There was also a deeper twist to the story which I wasn't expecting, but it's now the reason that I am eager to read more in book two.
An action packed space adventure, Dominic's debut is a blast!
