Ninja Bookswap- what's it all about

Ninja Bookswap is a wonderful concept co-founded by the lovely Bex. It's all about giving and receiving and a little bit of happy mail.

I absolutely love the concept of Ninja Bookswap and is something I have been taking part in for a couple of years now. The basic concept is that a number of lovely people sign up to take part and you are each given a random partner to send gifts to. That person won't have you, they will have a completely different partner and you don't know who has got you, hence the title Ninja Bookswap.

Once you get your partners details you also get their amazon wishlist full of books, stationary, candles, anything that they are basically wishing for at the time. You also get their likes and dislikes to give you some other ideas. You can also choose what type of parcel you would like to send, so if your budget is a little limited you can choose to send one book and a couple of gifts and if your recipient has said yes, you can also send pre-loved items or hand-made gifts. In the parcel you also include a little note of who you are and your twitter handle.

I chose the option of two books and a couple of gifts, so it also meant my partner would send the same. When my parcel arrived I was so so impressed with my gifts. My Ninja bookswapper was the wonderful Emma Bee from emmabeeillustrates. You can see from the main picture that she went with a Beauty and the Beast theme and also got me unicorn socks and a nightdress! Emma really put a lot of effort and thought into her gift and I cannot thank her enough.

I hope the person who I am ninja bookswapping for likes my gifts too.

Currently this is only open to past swappers as sadly there have been some problems in the past with people not receiving their parcels. I also know that Bex got some very unnecessary and uncalled for abuse from those who did not receive their parcels. Bex does this completely for free and in her own time and she cannot be held accountable if someone does not send their parcel out. It's such a shame that people like that had to ruin it by not sending their parcel, but I hope Bex's trust will restored in the future and open it up to everyone again.

  1. Hello! I'm so glad you liked your gifts :) - I can't wait to see what you think of the books too!

Ninja Book Swap is great and it's something I really look forward to. It's such a shame it's had to be closed to new participants but I completely understand the reasoning. Fingers crossed for the future though!

Good of you to blog about it too.
I love #ninjabookswap and appreciate all the work Bex does, as you say it's a pity a few have taken advantage.
