The Story of Us by Ellen Faith

I am delighted to be part of The Story of Us by Ellen Faith Blog Tour. I have an excerpt and a fantastic giveaway. The other stops on the tour are listed below, so do check them out for other great posts!

Synopsis

Alexandra Jones has a pretty peachy life. A gorgeous, stinking rich fiancé, her sleazy boss is retiring which means an imminent promotion in a job she loves, and she gets her best friends Jimmy Choos when she dies, although she would prefer her best friend to stick around as long as possible. Obviously.

But when a blast from the past turns up on her doorstep just as her world turns upside down, she decides to take her best friend, Rosie, up on her offer of a 10 day break in San Francisco. Whilst Rosie works on a fashion shoot and Alexandra becomes well acquainted with the photographer’s brother, it becomes clear that this trip is one that will change their lives forever

Excerpt

"We went to Sausalito, had a picnic looking out towards the city admiring the skyline, he apologised for being so mean when we first met - I told him he still owed me another IHOP experience - oh, and a dog had it's wicked way with my leg. I felt very violated." Popping open a bag of Cheetos I attempt to tot up in my head how many bags I must have gone through in my short time here. It's impossible. I'm quite surprised that my fingers aren't permanently stained orange. Maybe I could start a new trend, move over green fingered folk, orange is the future.
"Hey, back to me missy." Snapping her fingers in my face she startles me. "I can always tell when you're laughing at your own jokes you know, you big geek. So, will you be seeing the dog again, did you get its number or did you just use and abuse it, breaking its poor heart."
Oh I am glad she finds this so amusing. I could be scarred here and she'd still laugh at my expense. Although I'd probably laugh at her.
"Oddly enough Rosie, no, I won't be seeing the randy little fuzzball again." Hands on hips I try my unamused face on her. Doesn't work.
"Oh please, you've used the same face for years and each time I'll tell you the same thing, you just look constipated. So, Ryan. It went well then yes?" Invading my bag of Cheetos I squeeze her hand and snarl. I'm very protective over these little puffs of cheese, Ryan caught me offguard, he got lucky.
"Ouch, jeez Lex, vicious much?!" Pulling out her hand and surveying the damage, she shoots me a look that tells me I'm going to pay for that at a later date. We have this long standing and frankly cruel game that happens quite a lot. Jason is getting very tired of if but fair play to him for putting up with it for so long. Walker used to lose it, seriously, I'm talking Crazytown. There were arguments, tears, tantrums, and like I say, Walker used to get pretty angry too.
Examples of our games?
I messed with Rosie's alarm on her phone one day, she screwed with every clock in my house. I hid her favourite work trousers, she pulled mine down in the middle of Topshop. The lesson here kids is that Rosie always wins. Always. I'll probably wake up tomorrow with Cheetos stuffed up my nose or down my pants. I'm not sure which is worse.

Author Bio

Ellen lives in the wonderful county of Yorkshire, England where she spends most of her time baking, eating, baking, and eating. Occasionally she does leave the house to go to the cinema or do some food shopping though.

After spending years with an overactive imagination, she decided to put all the magic in her head to some good use and put finger to laptop where The Story of Us was born and became her debut novel.

She loves to travel, her favourite destinations so far have all been in America, hence the love of all things, and all people, American. The food rocks pretty hard too, she ate until her jeans begged her to stop whilst she was there. True fact.

Aside from day dreaming and eating, Ellen is a sucker for a lolcat, penguins and monkeys - she has never claimed to be normal.
