Showcase Sunday #26

Showcase Sunday is hosted by Vickie at Books Biscuits and Tea. The aim of this event is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone, hope you have all had a good week and isn't the weather jus divine at the moment! Hopefully summer is nearly here! Now onto books:

Bittersweet by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore (To be Reviewed)
The Comeeback Season by Jen E.Smith (Purchased)
Talk to Me by Jules Wake (To be Reviewed)
The Vacationers by Emma Straub (To be Reviewed)
The Blue Room by Hanne Orstavik (To be Reviewed)
The Vanishing Witch by Karen Maitland (To be Reviewed)

Quite a mixture of books this week. I saw that HarperCollins were offering review copies of Bittersweet on their twitter and I really liked the sound of the story, so requested a copy. I have now read two of Jen E.Smith's books so naturally I just had to buy her others as I love her stories and writing. The lovely ladies at ChocLit publishing send me their monthly email asking if there were any of their June titles I would like to review and Talk to me caught my eye- it has a really pretty cover as well. The Vacationers and The Vanishing Witch were unexpected post. The Vacationers looks like a great summer read and The Vanishing Witch is a very long book! But thankfully it's not out until mid August so I have more time to read. And finally The Blue Room. This one sounds quite dark and I am incredibly excited to read it. Think it might get bumped up the TBR pile.

So those are my books this week. Do let me know yours :)

Happy Sunday.

  2. They look like lovely books to read in the sunshine... I too am looking forward to The Blue Room - a difficult mother/daughter relationship? Hmmm, a subject which never fails to intrigue me... (wonder why?).

  9. May sound embarrassing but I've never read any Jennifer Smith. Any recommendations which I should try first?

    1. No not at all!! The first book I read from her was This is What Happy Looks Like and it was brilliant. I think her best one is supposed to be The Statistical Probability of Love at First Site, so maybe start with that one? It doesn't really matter which one you read first as they are all stand alone novels :) x
